If you believe
in the same Lebanese principals as we do, please add your name and comments to
our guestbook. We believe in the following:
- The Lebanese should put Lebanon first, before any other
affiliation they might have.
- Political positions should "not" be divided by
religious considerations.
- Lebanese unity can be achieved, and with each of us doing
his/her part, we can have a Lebanon that's the envy of the
world.
- The Lebanese war should be part of the history curriculum
in schools, so that the new generation learns a lesson from
the past. We recommend the Ziad Rahbani plays, as the basis
of research !
- Lebanon should be at an "equal" foot with Syria.
- Our Arab identity should not come at the cost of our openness
to the west, and vise versa. We've always been a unique country,
and so has been our identity.
- The brain-drain is costing Lebanon its brightest and most
educated youth. Therefore, the government should support
the creation of job opportunities and affordable education,
so that its own children don't feel obliged to leave for
places where they are better appreciated.
- The Lebanese should learn that "harbaka" (smartness)
is in helping your neighbour, not stealing from him/her.
And "wasta" (being connected) is a bad way for
doing things. The same applies to " bribery" and "cheating".
- The Lebanese people should look at advanced countries,
and learn how to respect the human life and human rights,
while maintaining our own culture and values.
- It's time to go back to being leaders among the nations
of the world. After all, Lebanon is one of the 50 founding
members of the United Nations, and we've had a major role
in drafting the Declaration of Human Rights. We've given
the world Gibran and Fairuz,... not to mention creating the
alphabet and having over 7000 years of history,... that's
something to be proud of.
