Why the name ShooFiMaFi.com !??

ShooFiMaFi means "what's happening", and in a way, that's exactly what the site is all about.

When ShooFiMaFi.com was a webzine (web magazine), our articles always solicited the reader's opinion,... so "what's up?" meant "what are your thoughts?",... and today, as we've become a portal for connecting the Lebanese wherever they may be, the word ShooFiMaFi means "what's happening?".

The ShooFiMaFi founders are a group of Lebanese friends who grew-up during the war, and never saw their country strong. We currently live abroad, but we never lost contact with the land we love and the place we will always call home.

We all went to school in Lebanon, met at university, and formed very special friendships. We come from different religious backgrounds, and represent a generation that never got involved in the Lebanese war, or saw any reason for it.

ShooFiMaFi.com has no political or religious affiliations, and no agendas whatsoever.

Why we developed ShooFiMaFi.com !??

We wanted to have our voices heard, and let the world know what the "true" Lebanon is all about.

We thought that the best medium for communicating our message was the Internet, where a Lebanese webzine (web magazine) would provide the youth of Lebanon a place to freely express their points of view.

We wanted to create a unique online space that speaks the same words that millions of Lebanese expatriates are saying, and project their hopes and dreams.

Why did ShooFiMaFi.com change in 2005 !??

For the first 5 years (2000 - 2005), ShooFiMaFi.com was the first and only Lebanese web magazine on the Internet. Then, it was time to move ahead, and take action.

It was time to build the biggest and most comprehensive database of "Lebanese" social and cultural groups/clubs that exist around the world. It was also time to take action in supporting everything that's in favour of Lebanon's unity and the Lebanese culture.

Who are the ShooFiMaFi.com Coordinators !??

Realizing that such a responsibility can't be handled by the founders alone, and being the victims of our own success (with ShooFiMaFi.com's growth exceeding our expectations), it was time to recruit dedicated coordinators.

These are fellow Lebanese who share our love for Lebanon and our passion for promoting Lebanese unity. They are the soul of ShooFiMaFi.com, it's arms of reach, and our representatives of positive Lebanese mentality around the world [learn more].
